EAAE - European Association for Astronomy Education's Webpage

This is the official webpage of the European Association for Astronomy Education (EAAE). Here you can find information about the EAAE, about how to become a member (free) and have free access to all projects, information and materials that the Associations' Working Groups are producing for educators.

EAAE Projects highlights:

"Catch a Star" winners have been announced.

Read all about it at the Winners page of "Catch a Star"

A new project has now been developed by EAAE for schools.

Find a Sundial invites you to look around and bring to public your town's "lost" sundials. Learn more about it at the homepage of Find a Sundial.

Another project that will be opened during the school year 2011/2012 is Space Art.

Space Art tries to improve student's awareness about the Universe by producing drawings or make pictures of astronomical features or events. Learn more about it at Space Art's homepage. Artistic works can be submitted until June 30th, 2012.

Other EAAE Projects:

Project Moonwalkers is permanently opened. It's a project that recognizes the work of any teacher that does significant work about the Moon with his students. The teacher just has to send us the work and after evaluation, if the work is considered relevant, it will be published on the website with due credit and the teacher will receive a certificate for his work.

EAAE "Eratosthenes Project" has now finished the  2011's edition. On this project, schools collaboratively measured Earth's circumference using the angle of the shadow produced by a gnomon on June 21st repeating the famous experiment done by Eratosthenes more than 2000 years ago.

Another EAAE project is the "Sunrise Project" On this project, schools are invited to make pinhole camera long exposure images of solar path around the vernal equinox and make astronomical calculations with them.

How can I become a member?

Register!

To become a member of the European Association for Astronomy Education (EAAE) you just have to be an astronomy teacher or educator, make your registration on this site and fill in your profile on the link "Create an account"of the Login menu.

Some days later, after we consult your national representative, we will be able to confirm you as teacher or educator in your country we will certificate your membership by email. Even if you are not a teacher and therefore you won't receive a certificate you  will be able to see some contents that are not available without registration.

The EAAE General Assembly gathered in Madrid on December 1st, 2009, has decided that since this is a non-profit organization no fee would be charged to its members. Therefore the only obligation a member has is to login to our site at least once  a year so that we confirm that he is still part of the Association.

There are several activities of the association where all members are invited to participate.

If you are an astronomy/science/physics/math teacher or education, please feel free to join the EAAE.

If you are not a teacher just make your registration and enjoy the astronomy contents and activities we have for you.

EAAE welcomes you.
